The only way to start getting over it is to start sharing it. It's worth it, because feedback from readers helps you improve your writing. But it's not easy, especially when you first start. Choosing who reads your work can ease the process -- pick somebody who is going to be interested in your story and be able to share their feedback in a helpful way. For some people, it will be a sibling or another family member. For others, it might be easier to let a friend or a blogging acquaintance (that you trust) read it first.
And, obviously (by my pacing), I'm still a little uptight. ;) So I totally understand. You'll be able to share your writing when it is time. :)Esther Brooksmith (wisdomcreates)https://www.blogger.com/profile/15010043354045249021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-815415883815094859.post-78366321925644528682015-09-02T01:42:47.734-07:002015-09-02T01:42:47.734-07:00I have the hardest time letting anyone read my wri...I have the hardest time letting anyone read my writing. But it would be, oh, so lovely to see one of our names in next year's book!!!
That's wonderful that you are making steady progress now, and it's kind of exciting to see how your "semi-pantsing" goes. :) I can't wait to hear more about it!Esther Brooksmith (wisdomcreates)https://www.blogger.com/profile/15010043354045249021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-815415883815094859.post-53875677378258633262015-08-31T20:19:37.537-07:002015-08-31T20:19:37.537-07:00Oh, well thank you for stopping by and commenting,...Oh, well thank you for stopping by and commenting, Savannah!
Yes, I'm planning to join the show and tell. I'm working on writing a short "pitch.". This is good practice for me.
Are you doing the show and tell?Esther Brooksmith (wisdomcreates)https://www.blogger.com/profile/15010043354045249021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-815415883815094859.post-89400978692374504702015-08-31T10:18:56.873-07:002015-08-31T10:18:56.873-07:00It's so exciting that your mom loved the story...It's so exciting that your mom loved the story and even helped you with whittling it down to the word limit. I definitely hope to see you on the list of winners next year! As for my progress, I'm slowly making headway with this novella and I'm pretty sure that I started in the right place. I know where I'm going, but I definitely eased up on the plotting with this story, which I usually don't do.
