Interviews of Snow White Authors: Kellyn Roth

Greetings, everyone!!!!  Today, I get to interview the lovely Kellyn Roth about her story, Adae .  This is my second Snow White interview, and I am having so much fun getting to talk with these authors. Everybody, please welcome Kellyn Roth! (cue whistles and clapping and cheering) Me:      Hi, Kellyn!   Welcome!   Can you tell me a little bit about your Snow White story? Kellyn: My novella is about a young queen, Adae, who doesn't really seem to fit in. She's convinced her younger sister would make a much better ruler than she, but tradition binds her to the throne. Her fairy godmother gifts her a magic looking glass on her coronation day, and the mirror, Carmelli, becomes her only friend. After Carmelli warns her of an assassination attempt, Adae must flee to the forest to hide from her more powerful sister. Necessary parts of the writing process: This is Aubrey a couple months ago, when I was writing.  She i...

Interview with Snow White authors: Gwen Moeller

Today, I have the privilege of interviewing Gwen Moeller!   She is my first Snow White interview, so I am pretty excited.   Without further ado, let's welcome Gwen!   (And give me a little grace -- this was my first interview, and I was a little nervous.) Me:      Hi, Gwen!   Welcome to my blog!   I and my band of dear friends are so glad to see you.   We are honored by your presence.       I am most interested in your story for the Rooglewood Snow White contest.   What is your story about? Gwen:      My story, "Poisoned," is a Snow White retelling set in a classic fantasy setting, but with a different take on fantasy races. Nix never knew her mother, and the father she knew was always sad and reclusive, neglecting his duties as king of the Human realm. When Nix was fifteen, her father married a stunning Elf. But he wasn't revitalized by the...

Time Traveler Letter from 2016

I think it is kind of interesting the way a blog morphs over the course of it's existence.  Do you ever look back over your blog and remember the way you felt when you first started writing it?  Maybe it's just me, because I attach memories to things.  But I pull up my early, early blog posts and I remember how excited and apprehensive I was -- so full of ideas and plans for what my blog would become and at the same time nervous that it wouldn't succeed or that it would fall into the category of "boring" for all my readers.  And there's more emotions that I remember -- ones that I haven't really learned to put into words yet.      Why am I reminiscing today?  Because today, for me, is actually May 3rd, 2016.  That's right -- 2016.  This is another one of my time traveler letters.  I write a post and then arrange for it to be published a year later.  You should try it -- it's kind of a fun ex...

Looking Ahead to another Five Something Something

Last year, Rooglewood Press took a break from hosting the novella contest due to perfectly worthy reasons.  Shall  they resume it this year?  I don't know.      But what if they do?      January is the perfect time to start guessing what story they have lined up.  It can't be Cinderella or Beauty-and-the-Beast or Sleeping Beauty because those are already taken.  So what do you think?       My guesses are The Little Mermaid, Rapunzel, or Snow White.  What are yours?

Inspiration from Author Emily Ann Putzke

Hi everyone! I’m Emily Ann Putzke, author of It Took a War , Ain’t We Got Fun , and my newest novel Resist which released this week. Today I’m going to share five of my favorite writing websites. The Online Etymology Dictionary is a wonderful resource for historical writers. If you find your characters saying things you’re not sure are historically accurate, this site is your friend. It will tell you the year the word was first used. Helping Writers Become Authors is a great website chocked full of advice. Peruse their site for advice on both the writing and publishing process. The author, K.M. Weiland, also posts daily writing quotes on her Facebook page that are either encouraging or downright funny. I love the layout of She’s Novel. I especially liked her post on deep point of view, and overcoming writing doubts. I’ve been a fan of Go Teen Writers f or years. There’s timeless advice on all aspects of being a writer, contests, giveaway...

COVER REVEAL: Resist by Emily Ann Putzke

I am thrilled that today, I have the honor of participating in the cover reveal for Emily Ann Putzke's new novel: Resist.  I have been following her blog for some time, and I have to say that I am pretty excited about this book.  But don't just take my word for it.  Read about it for yourself! Resist Synopsis: Munich, Germany 1942—Hans Scholl never intended to get his younger sister involved in an underground resistance. When Sophie Scholl finds out, she insists on joining Hans and his close friends in writing and distributing anti-Nazi leaflets entitled, The White Rose. Hans knows the consequences for their actions—execution for committing high treason—but firm in his convictions, he’s prepared to lose his life for a righteous cause. Based on a true story, Hans, Sophie and all...
