Hi, guys! Thank you for joining me! I'm continuing my countdown to Rooglewood's announcement on March 1st. We have only 12 days to go! And it's SO nice to wait with you guys.
As you know, this year's Rooglewood contest is the third of its kind. The first year, the contest was for Cinderella retellings, and, last year, it was a Beauty and the Beast retelling. Have you read either of those anthologies? Did you like them? Do you own a hard copy of them? Or an ebook version? Or both?
I read both anthologies. I have Five Glass Slippers in paperback, and I have Five Enchanted Roses as an ebook. And, of course, I'm looking forward to adding Five Magic Spindles to my collection.
But what I really wanted to talk about today was Five Glass Slippers (partly so that I'm thinking about something different than this year's anthology but still somewhat related). For those of you who have read it, what were your favorite stories from it and why?
FIVE GLASS SLIPPERS:
What Eyes Can See by Elisabeth Brown
Broken Glass by Emma Clifton
The Windy Side of Care by Rachel Heffington
A Cinder's Tale by Stephanie Ricker
The Moon Master's Ball by Clara Diane Thompson
I look forward to your comments!!!

I haven't read any of them, but which ones would you suggest?
ReplyDeleteWhat Eyes Can See was my absolute favorite, followed closely by A Cinder's Tale.
DeleteI read both of the anthologies and loved them :). I own ebook copies of both, just because I felt that the physical copies were a tad expensive ... I still might get them at some point though.
ReplyDeleteOoo, I can't pick ONE favorite story from FGS, so I'll just list them from favorite to least favorite (though I liked them all) ...
1. The Moon Master's Ball / Broken Glass (it's a tie)
2. What Eyes Can See
3. A Cinder's Tale
4. The Windy Side Of Care
Here's my favorite order for the Five Glass Slippers anthology:
Delete1. What Eyes Can See
2. A Cinder's Tale
3. The Windy Side of Care
4. Broken Glass/The Moonmaster's Ball (yep, it's a tie again. And I like the fact that it's on the top of your list and the bottom of mine. It goes to show that different stories appeal to different audiences, which I think is so cool.)
Haha, that's funny :D. Yeah, I like how Anne Elisabeth picks such a wide variety of stories; it makes it so that there is something for everyone!
DeleteI have read both of them, and own them on eBook.
ReplyDeleteThey are both fantastic reads.
My favorite story would have to be The Windy Side of Care, it was so funny. My other one would be The Moonmaster's Ball, loved the magical element of that.
I liked The Moonmaster's Ball (because it was so unique) and a Cinder's Tale (because it was science fiction). They were all so good, it is hard to pick favorites. :)
ReplyDeleteI own both the anthologies as hard copies, and I've really enjoyed reading them!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite story in "Five Glass Slippers" was "The Windy Side of Care." I liked its quirkiness.
I've only read the first two stories so far, but BROKEN GLASS is, at this point, my favourite. It's so comical, and the ending is spectacular! Hopefully I can finally finish (and maybe re-read the first two stories) it, this year. :)
ReplyDeleteAll five are beautiful stories! But if forced to pick favorites, I'd say Broken Glass and The Windy Side of Care. But I also really liked the premise of The Moonmaster's Ball. Ah, they're all so good! Sadly, I don't yet own Five Enchanted Roses.
